Brakebush
Description
Following a disastrous fire at the plant in 2018, the owner of Brakebush Brothers Company, approached D. R. Reynolds Company for aid in retrofitting the existing facility so that their product could be put into production at the greatest possible quality. Working under severe constraints and much worse weather circumstances during the highest rainfall in 35 years., D. R. Reynolds Company was able to complete the 16-month project in late 2019 and put it into production.
The project encompassed over 100,000 square feet of existing building demolition, intricate concrete footing installation, precast exterior and interior concrete walls, the most up-to-date HVAC and electrical systems, as well as freezers that can reach temperatures of nearly 40 degrees below zero. With constantly changing working drawings, the subcontractors worked at a rate of approximately 200 people per day, seven days a week, for about eight months, nonstop, to expedite the project’s completion. There were a total of eight new structures developed on the land.
