The Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) Fire Trainer

is a comprehensive, multi-level training system designed to provide firefighters with realistic and versatile training scenarios. Constructed using a 12-box configuration-including five 20-foot units and seven 40-foot units-the structure is built exclusively with 9’6″ high-cube, one-trip containers, ensuring durability and consistent structural quality.

This trainer features four D. R. Reynolds Company exclusive burn rooms, strategically located to maximize training opportunities, with two on the first level, one on the second level, and one on the third level. The structure also includes a multi-position rappel tree, allowing firefighters to practice rope operations from multiple heights and positions.

To simulate common fireground challenges, the trainer incorporates an attic poke prop, interior breach door configuration on the first-floor level, breach windows, and a standpipe prop for standpipe and hose operations training. A multi-level interior stairwell connects all floors, while an exterior stair tower provides additional access to every level of the trainer.

At the top of the structure, a 640-square-foot upper training deck is equipped with handrails and a covered canopy, creating a safe and functional space for instruction and observation. The trainer also includes a relocatable ventilation prop, which can be moved between the second and third floor levels, as well as a second-floor balcony condition that allows crews to practice ladder access, rescue, and exterior operations.

Together, these features make the GTCC Fire Trainer a dynamic and adaptable facility designed to support a wide range of hands-on firefighter training scenarios.
